HCAAN Press Release Regarding Annexation Lawsuit
Under Indiana Code §36-4-3-2.1(b), “all interested parties must have the opportunity to testify as to the proposed annexation.” HCAAN believes that Mayor Steve Updike, by his highly publicized actions and intimidating statements made during the course of the meeting, frustrated the public from being able to testify as to the annexation ordinance in direct violation of Indiana Code.

Gary Snyder on Last Nights LOIT County Council Meeting
The statement’s that most leave a lasting effect from last night’s meeting is Kathy Branham telling us that “she knows more about this than we do!” and over at the City Council meeting when Mayor Steve Updike (post-meltdown) told people on the verge of having their homes annexed by the city to “Shut-up and get on board or move!” Do those two statements by our elected officials need any more commentary?
CONCERNED CITIZENS FORM UNITED FRONT TO OPPOSE HUNTINGTON ANNEXATION EFFORTS
Local citizens have formed Huntington Citizens Against Annexation (“HCAAN”) to raise community awareness of the city’s annexation efforts and to voice their opposition to these efforts.
Many issues related to annexation concern the members of HCAAN. First, members worry about the consequences of annexing this area without adding public safety manpower for the police and fire departments to adequately serve and protect the citizens and property in the affected area.
Updike Withdrawls Challenge
July 15, 2008- According to Huntington County Clerk Vicki Stoffel, Huntington County Republican Chairwoman Pam Updike has decided to withdrawal her challenge to the candidacy of Democratic Candidates for Huntington County Council Gary L. Snyder and Don Ness.
