To debate or not to debate that is the question. We should ask those who refused, “Why did you refuse to debate?” My challenger refused to debate but I did not. I wish she would have accepted and we the people could get to know the both of us better.
I think it is a shame for someone who has no legitimate excuse to refuse a debate. Like I said a few weeks ago, it was my challenger’s American right to choose not to debate. I wonder what people would have said about me for not debating? I may disagree with the Huntington TEA Party 99 percent of the time, but there is common ground where we agree on some issues. I agree with them on the Second Amendment and choose the person not the party idea. I think it is time to move on and move forward. I say let the voters choose who they want to be their next County Recorder.
I believe I am the best and most qualified to be the next County Recorder. I have and still hold executive positions as a president of a student organization and elected Secretary of the Huntington County Democrats. I have worked with public records with my research in college. As a graduate student, I still work with public records for my research. In theory I know what the County Recorder does. It is not like I work in the Recorder’s Office five days a week like my challenger does. How is someone going to be qualified if they do not get the chance to prove they are the best candidate for the job without running for it first?
I believe Huntington County needs new leaders and new blood. It is time for us to work for you the people. It should not be the other way around. If you are an elected official you are a public servant. We pay your salary and you took an oath of office to serve the public; now start serving us by not expanding local government. Playing party politics does not move our local government forward. If I am elected I will serve you the people.
What Huntington needs is jobs! We cannot allow one person from keeping jobs from coming into town. Since this one person threatens lawsuits, these jobs have gone to other communities. Why are we allowing one person to have the say in what jobs can come in or not? Current elected officials: grow your spine back and tell this one person where they can stick their lawsuits.
I look forward to talking to people as the election is getting closer. I have a meet and greet from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday September 30 at Coffee D’Vine. At this meet and greet you can register to vote and absentee ballot applications will be on hand. The last day to register for the November 2 election is Oct 4 by noon. If you cannot make it to this event and would like to vote in November. The Secretary of State has a website link for you to register online at indianavoters.in.gov.
If you have any questions feel free to call or email me. My phone number is 356-3703 or my email: email@example.com.
Thank You and God Bless,
Democrat Nominee for County Recorder
