Dear Editor:
It seems more and more people are registering their disgust with the broken, eminently unfair federal Income Tax.
Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, known during the 2008 presidential campaign as “Joe the Plumber,” has launched a website seeking Americans’ votes to abolish the Internal Revenue Service.
“Are you sick and tired of being forced to file a tax return every year?” asks Wurzelbacher on his IRSvote.com website. “I’m here to ask my fellow Americans to join me to me to make this the last year we ever have to file a tax return. I’m going to give the American people the opportunity to vote the IRS out.”
Instead of the current IRS-run tax system, Wurzelbacher urges that the federal government switch to a proposal commonly called the “FairTax,” a plan that exchanges personal income tax for a national sales tax.
Do you want to find out more about the FAIR TAX? Come to the historic Dan Quayle Center (corner of Warren and Tipton Streets) to an informational meeting on the Fair Tax addressed by two representatives of the Indiana Fair Tax Association. It will take place at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 in the Upper Gallery, and is free to the public. The meeting will begin with a 20-minute film about the Fair Tax, followed by additional facts supplied by Ron Heilman of Fort Wayne, IN and Adrian Messer from Silver Lake, In. Brochures, bumper stickers and the famous, stylish FAIR TAX hats may be purchased, proceeds for the Fair Tax.
