Tri Kappa Follies 2008 “Bringing It Home”

by Natalie Bartrom

A lot of people around Huntington have been “seeing red” for the last few weeks—Red Stockings, that is. Local business owners have been showing their support by hanging the well-known sorority signs in their windows. The Tri Kappa Red Stocking Follies performers are set to take the stage at Huntington North High School on October 2, 3, and 4 at 7:30pm.

This year, Tri Kappa decided to take advantage of some local, hometown talent by hiring David and Dianna Dean to serve as co-directors of the show. They have given the presentation the title of “Bringing It Home” and have added their personal comedic touches to the routines. If you are interested in slap-stick comedy, high-energy dance performances, and amazing musical talent, this year’s Follies are one that shouldn’t be missed! The show is family-friendly and is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

The Dean’s have included musical numbers from Broadway hits like Grease and Chicago. Beverly and Tonia Johnson have put together dance routines that will wow the audience. Comedy skits include everything from sumo wrestlers to singing chickens and are sure to be entertaining!

Tri Kappa Sorority members have worked hard this year to focus on delivering a wonderful show to the community of Huntington. They have set a record number of participants in the show this year. Over 120 members of the community have volunteered their time and talents to provide a variety of entertainment.

Tickets are being sold now at local businesses such as Hallmark and main branch banks. Tickets can also be purchased from any Tri Kappa member. The tickets are $8.00 in advance or $10.00 at the door. The sorority will also offer raffle tickets for $10.00 each, giving ticket-holders the opportunity to walk away with $750. Voting is still taking place for the Mr. and Mrs. Legs competition as well.

All proceeds from the Red Stocking Follies will be used for scholarships for local students, the Boys and Girls Club, Riley Children’s Hospital, the Literacy Coalition, and many other charities.
