Submitted by Gary Snider and Ken Zuk
September 18, 2008- Gary L. Snyder, Democratic Candidate for County Council, and Ken Zuk, Huntington County Democratic Chairman, would like to thank Mr. Jerry Harvey for his many years of outstanding service to the Huntington Community and praise his decision to resign.
Gary L.. Snyder and Ken Zuk now renew their call for the resignation of Huntington County Council President Kathy Branham from both her position on the Huntington County Council and as the Republican nominee for Huntington County Commissioner. Mr. Snyder and Mr. Zuk feel Mrs. Branham was clearly aware of Mr. Jerry Harvey’s circumstances even before the initial call for Mr. Harvey’s resignation on August 22, 2008 and willfully concealed it from the public. Mr. Snyder submitted an Indiana public records request on September 16, 2008 for all relevant communications and believes this request will validate, if complied with, the call for Mrs. Branham’s resignation.
Gary L. Snyder and Ken Zuk also continue to call for the resignation of County Councilwoman, Executive Assistant to the Mayor and Republican Party Chairwoman Mrs. Pam Updike from her positions on Huntington County Council and as Executive Assistant to the Mayor. Gary and Ken feel Mrs. Updike should resign from the County Council because as Republican Chairwoman, she was aware of Mr. Harvey’s circumstances even before the initial call for Mr. Harvey’s resignation on August 22, 2008 and willfully concealed it from the public. Mrs. Pam Updike should resign from her job as Executive Assistant to the Mayor for using her office within the Office of the Mayor and her City of Huntington email to conduct Republican Party business.. Mr. Ken Zuk submitted an Indiana public records request for all communications and feels if complied with, will validate the call for her resignation.
Gary L. Snyder and Ken Zuk issued the following joint statement:
“We call for the immediate resignation of Kathy Branham and Pam Updike. They were put in a position of trust and failed to live up to the high ethical standards required to maintain that trust with the people of Huntington County. While we are saddened for having to call for their resignations, we feel that this “culture of ethical failings” must end and feel the people of Huntington deserve to have their best interests represented and not the personal political agendas of a select few.”
Gentlemen-I am not sure your are aware of it-or even care-however, these are peoples lives you are playing fast and loose with here. One question, please state exactly how either of these folks “willfully concealed it from the public” in regard to what you describe as “Mr. Harvey’s circumstances”?
