The Youth Services Bureau of Huntington County will be hosting its 8th Annual Cornfest August 23, 2008. All of the events will be held at the office located at 1344 Maple Drive, Huntington. The event will feature a 38/50/75 mile bike ride. Registration for the rides begins at 7am and the fee is $15 for pre-registration and $20 the day of the event (The price includes lunch). A 1 mile and 5 mile family fun ride will also be available at a cost of $6 per rider, lunch is included in the cost. Lunches consisting of all-you-can eat corn on the cob, BBQ pork sandwich, chips, drink and ice cream will be served from 10am until 2pm at a cost of $6 for adults and $4 for children 6 and under. Carry-outs are available. In addition there will be a dunk tank with “local celebrities”, Moon Walk, kiddie games and other family friendly activities. The “local Celebrities” include Steve Miller from Habitat for Humanities, Coroner Leon Hurlburt, Sheriff Kent Farthing, Richard Strick, volunteer fireman Scott Howell and police officers Carl Shockome and Shane Jones. These activities are free to the public.
Sponsors for the event are Kline’s CPA, Kiwanis Club of Huntington and Parkview Huntington. Sponsorships are still available. .
“Our goal is to provide a fun filled day with activities that will be of interest to the entire family” Jan Williams, executive director. The event is a fundraiser for the agency.
